Snooper Sapphire Euro Plus Review
A stylish and compact unit that is easy to read and use, the Sapphire is the size of a small mobile phone you can slip it easily into a pocket when you leave your car.
The menu system is accessed and navigated by the ‘joy stick' that is simple and fuss free and does not limit the changes to those who have thin fingers or long nails. With the inbuilt 2-3 hour battery providing power there is no need for unsightly cables trailing over the dash and this enables mounting to the right hand side of the steering wheel, which keeps the Police happy as it is not obstructing the windscreen. The Sapphire Euro Plus now also comes with a dash mount option in the box and a hardwire lead in addition to a cigar lighter lead as standard.
Full spoken alerts for camera type and speed limits are given; distances are shown on the display. With the option of turning on ‘Smart Mute' the full voice warning and penetrating beeps are only given whilst you are above the posted speed limit when approaching a camera warning zone. You also have some Logic modes to vary if and how you want to be alerted to cameras on the other side of the road in addition to your side. There is a nice feature to vary the display colour to something that fits in with your dash board instrumentation along with the usual volume and brightness adjustment. As this unit includes speed camera locations across Europe you can also switch from MPH to KPH for your alerts. It also has an earpiece socket which combined with the inbuilt battery makes it a good unit for motorbikers to use.
