Speed case won by Traffic Cop
Mark Treleaven-Jones, a Traffic Officer with North Wales Police in Bangor, has won his case for speeding through traffic works. On Feb 4 th he was caught speeding at 56mph in a 40mph temporary zone in Conwy.
His defence had argued that due to the bad weather the 40mph sign had been knocked over in the wind and another had been obscured. The Judge accepted Mr Treleaven-Jones explanation that the sign had been knocked down to the ground.
Mr Treleaven-Jones said he knew the roadworks well and was aware of speed restrictions but that the contraflow had recently been changed and so the signs were a vital part.
The weather that weekend had been "particularly bad" with very high winds.
On the night in question there had been a very high number of drivers exceeding the speed limit thus making it very easy to accept that the limit had in fact not been in operation at that time.
